DUBB on the Trumpet
Overview
Asia Wilson comes from the city of blues and soul and overall - just great music. Being a trumpet player from Memphis holds a lot of weight and Wilson is very much built for it. Her trumpet studies started at Colonial Middle School for the Creative and Performing Arts. Later, she transitioned to another Creative and Performing Arts school - Watkins Overton High School. Much was learned from her directors Christopher Piecuch, Chelsea Negray, and Jeffery Huddleston. Because of her persistance & musical education, ADUBB was able to make 4 top-band appearances at the All-West Tennessee regional clinic and one Tennessee All-State appearance during her senior year of high school. These experiences allowed for her to grow into a very solid trumpet player and later lead to post education & different opportunities as well.
Post graduation, Wilson attended the University of Memphis. While attending university, she was apart of the trumpet studio there where she studied with Dr. David Spencer. During this time, she was able to get acclimated and gain work locally in the Memphis Music scene. Once graduating from the university, Wilson went on to play with the B.B. King Allstars at Sea to play and travel to different areas of the world. Wilson has now been able to play with acts such as Corey Lou & DaVillage, R&B/Soul singer Talibah Safiya, R&B/Soul singer KIRBY, Larry Dodson - the original lead singer of the Legendary Bar-Kays, country/bluegrass artist Valerie June, and more.
